GTM Engineering Replacement
A Switzerland-based lead generation agency had five tools and an offshore team running its process by hand. The process was still the bottleneck, not the cost of running it. Pristine replaced the process itself.
8 clients
Running their entire outbound process on Pristine today
5 tools, 1 offshore team
Even with cheaper hands running it, the process itself never scaled, until it was replaced
Low hundreds
Contacts per client, precision over volume, by design
The agency builds highly curated, low-volume contact lists for local businesses, where accuracy matters far more than scale. To hit that bar, the founder had assembled his own stack by hand: Apollo for base contacts, because he wasn't satisfied with its contact enrichment or email quality on their own, Clay layered on top for further enrichment, his own custom scripts to clean the data and derive attributes it didn't come with, like inferring gender from a contact's name, and a separate step, also built inside Clay, to write personalized messages, before pushing everything into Smartlead to send. Running it took an offshore team, hired specifically to operate the scripts by hand. Even with cheaper labor running it, the process itself was still the bottleneck, hiring it out didn't fix what was inefficient from the start, it just postponed the point where it broke. As the agency added clients, that caught up with him.
Pristine replaced the entire stack, contact sourcing, enrichment, data cleanup, derived attributes, and message writing, with one system, and connected directly into the Smartlead account the agency already had, the same bring-your-own-sender path Pristine offers any customer with an existing Instantly or Smartlead account, so nothing changed on the sending side.
The agency now runs this process for 8 clients on Pristine, work that used to take a founder, an offshore team, and five separate tools to hold together, and that cheaper labor alone was never going to fix, since the process itself, not its cost, was the actual constraint. Contact volumes here are deliberately small, in the low hundreds per client rather than the tens of thousands, list quality is the point, not scale. There's no conversion percentage to report, the agency's volumes are too low for one to be meaningful, but the process it replaced, custom scripts, an offshore team, a five-tool stack, is gone, replaced by one system running across every client the agency serves.
This is what replacing GTM engineering actually looks like for a business built on precision, not volume: not cheaper hands running the same broken process, one system replacing the process itself.
